Important - Black Wireless 2G GSM 850/1900MHz carrier network shutdown
Thank you for choosing Black Wireless service! We appreciate your business. Due to planned carrier network upgrades your device and all other 2G devices will no longer work on the Black Wireless network after December 2016. Black Wireless customers using this network will need to upgrade their devices as they will be unable to make or receive calls, including emergency calls, send or receive text messages, or use data services after 12/31/2016.
If you are currently using a device that only works on our 2G GSMA network, please upgrade your phone as soon as possible.
How do I know if I am using an impacted phone?
If you received notifications from Black Wireless regarding a network shutdown, we’ve identified a phone on your account as using our 2G network. A few of the ways an impacted phone can be identified include:
1. The top of the phone screen displays 2G, G, GSM, GPRS, E or EDGE.
2. They operate on 850MHz and 1900MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE band frequencies.
3. Some 2G phones are older flip phone models.
Note: Some devices without UMTS 850/1900MHz band frequencies may also be impacted.
Can I keep my current rate plan after I upgrade my device?
Yes! You will be able to keep your current rate plan when you upgrade your device.
